Not every Caribbean destination has the same program

The Caribbean includes several jurisdictions associated with citizenship-by-investment programs, such as Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia. The Dominican Republic is a different country from the Commonwealth of Dominica; their immigration and citizenship systems must never be conflated.

    Start with your actual objective

Some applicants prioritize family mobility; others seek a longer-term contingency plan, travel convenience, or international flexibility. A second citizenship is not a substitute for tax, immigration, sanctions, or other legal compliance. It may not give unrestricted entry to every destination.

Compare total cost, not headline contributions

Examine the qualifying investment or contribution, any applicable real estate holding rules, government application and due-diligence charges, professional fees, dependent additions, and potential renewal or maintenance obligations. Fee schedules and investment thresholds change; never rely on an undated comparison table for a financial commitment.

    Due diligence and eligibility

Applicants commonly face identity and source-of-funds checks, background reviews and mandatory due diligence. Nationality-based restrictions, prior visa denials, health requirements, documentary standards and family eligibility can affect whether a specific route is viable. Government approval is never guaranteed.

    Passport access is dynamic

Visa-free access and entry conditions change independently of a program's marketing claims. Check official destination-country immigration sources for each trip. The Henley Passport Index is one research reference, but an investment decision requires much more than a ranking.

What the underlying passport index actually counts

Henley describes an IATA-based methodology covering 199 passports and 227 destinations, updated monthly. Its travel-access score includes visa-free travel, visa on arrival and electronic travel authorizations (ETA) that do not require advance visa approval. It does not count an e-visa requiring prior approval as visa-free. The score measures short-stay tourist or business entry under specified assumptions, not immigration, tax residence, the right to work, or admission guarantees. Primary methodology; live passport ranking.

Official source data: five Caribbean reference contribution amounts (24 October 2026)

    CountryGovernment-published starting contributionPrimary official source
DominicaUSD 200,000Dominica Citizenship by Investment Unit
Antigua and BarbudaUSD 230,000Citizenship by Investment Unit
    GrenadaUSD 235,000Investment Migration Agency
    Saint LuciaUSD 240,000Saint Lucia CIP
St Kitts and NevisUSD 250,000Citizenship by Investment Unit

Important comparison rule: these are reference amounts for selected qualifying contribution routes, not total application prices, confirmed approvals, or the price of a passport. Different family categories, due-diligence fees, professional fees, investment choices and future regulatory changes affect overall costs. These figures are not interchangeable with buying any residential property. Confirm again with each authority before committing funds.
