    General requirements

    1. Obtain the appropriate residence visa (RS) from MIREX through the competent Dominican consulate. It is a single-entry visa valid for use within 60 days, not the DGM residence permit. Confirm consular instructions before travelling. [DGM / MIREX]
    2. Prepare the valid passport, RS visa and documented entry, residence application and photographs in the current DGM format. Confirm passport validity and file specifications directly for your nationality and consulate. [DGM / MIREX]
    3. Provide birth certificate and the applicable foreign police/criminal record, apostilled or legalized as required. Provide accepted official Spanish translations where documents are in another language; observe the current certificate validity periods. [DGM / MIREX]
    4. Undergo the medical examination through DGM’s authorized procedure and provide the applicable guarantee evidence. Do not substitute a private overseas medical letter or assume that buying private insurance satisfies every DGM requirement. [DGM / MIREX]

    Category-specific evidence

    1. Provide the official investment registration/certification appropriate to the project through CEI-RD or the National Free Zones Council (CNZF), as applicable. Confirm the competent certifying body and investment record. [DGM / MIREX]
    2. Prove qualifying registered foreign direct investment of at least US$200,000, its lawful source and documented transfer. Any property purchase does not automatically qualify as certified investment. [DGM / MIREX]
    3. Supply notarized corporate and shareholding records, business registration and the additional project evidence required by the current DGM checklist. Personal identity, RS entry visa and lawful entry remain separate requirements. [DGM / MIREX]
    4. Complete DGM medical and guarantee requirements. The first investor residence card is issued for one year under the published procedure; renewal is a separate application with current evidence, not automatic permanent citizenship. [DGM / MIREX]

    Family and document formalities

    1. For spouse and dependants, provide the category-specific family application, passports, marriage and birth evidence, relationship/support documents and applicable medical and police checks. Family residence is not automatic from the principal’s investment or income. [DGM / MIREX]
    2. Law 171-07 articles 3 and 5 require US$250 additional monthly income per qualifying dependant applying jointly for pensioner or rentista residence. Eligible family includes a spouse, unmarried children under 18, incapacitated adult children, economically dependent university students and qualifying minors under recognized guardianship. This supplement is not a general investor rule. [DGM / MIREX]
    3. For minors, establish parental identity, custody and permission where a parent is absent. Foreign marriage/birth/custody documents require the applicable authentication and accepted Spanish translation; ask DGM about age-specific police and examination requirements. [DGM / MIREX]

    Five application steps

    1. Assess whether your evidence fits registered investment, qualifying pension or passive rentista income; check legal source of funds and separate tax questions. [DGM / MIREX]
    2. Gather category certificates and authenticated personal/family records; apply for the RS entry visa through the competent MIREX consulate. [DGM / MIREX]
    3. Enter within the visa’s permitted period and begin the DGM residence procedure through its official services and personal application portal; RS alone is not residence. [DGM / MIREX]
    4. Complete the DGM-authorized examination and guarantee/document requests, pay current official charges and monitor further requests. No fixed approval time is promised. [DGM / MIREX]
    5. If approved, collect and check the residence card and complete applicable identity/registration duties. Calendar renewal, maintain category conditions and confirm the current renewal checklist. [DGM / MIREX]

    Fees, renewal and legal distinctions

Confirm current consular, DGM, medical and guarantee charges directly; government charges are not investment capital and this guide offers no paid residence package. Law 171-07 tax benefits require their own legal eligibility and administrative procedure, not automatic exemptions from receiving a visa. Residence and naturalization are separate; no citizenship or decision-time guarantee. [DGM / MIREX]
